So-called “Natural” Gas has long been heralded as a clean fuel. New research shows, however, that the gas that is sold in New England is gas extracted through the highly toxic process of fracking (=hydraulic fracturing). Already a Boston University study found 300 methane leaks in the city of Boston alone. Methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2.
